The outline below is the outline of my Action Research project.
- Topic: Micro-credentials as a means to deliver professional learning to teachers at my school.
- Purpose: To determine if the use of micro-credentials leads to an increase in teachers’ use of technology tools that allow for student voice and choice in their classrooms.
- Research Question: Does using micro-credentials in professional learning increase the use of technology tools that emphasize student choice and voice by 7th and 8th grade core academic teachers?
- Research Design: The design will be quantitative because numerical data will be collected during the research and must be analyzed in order to answer the research question.
- Data to be Collected: The following data will be collected and analyzed: Micro-credential(s) earned, teacher questionnaires and classroom walkthroughs checklists on technology tool use.
- Measurement Instrument(s): The list of micro-credentials earned and the results of the teacher questionnaires and classroom walkthrough checklists will be compiled and compared using statistical formulas in Excel.
- Focus of Lit Review: The lit review will discuss the importance of choice and voice in student learning via the use of micro-credentials as a method of professional development.
