Planning My Course, Part II

Planning is the key to setting up a successful course. This week in my class, I planned out the second half of my Tools for Student Creation course. I learned some things while entering the first half of the course into Google Classroom and that is reflected in the outline below.

Week 3, Detailed Outline June 21, 2021 – June 27, 2021 :

Welcome to Week 3 – Designing with Adobe Video

Introduction: Adobe Spark Video is another part of the Adobe Spark Suite. This tool allows you to create amazing videos from scratch or you can use one of the templates to help you get started. You can combine images and videos to create a final project.

Learning Goals for the Course.

Learners will demonstrate their knowledge of tools for harnessing student creativity by creating lessons and exemplars for their students using each program.

Learning Goals for the week. 

  1. Learners will identify and master the skills necessary to use each tool. 
  1. Learners will design and create an assignment exemplar using each tool.

Assignment: This week take a lesson you are familiar with and change the work product that students turn in to an Adobe Spark Video. The goal is for you to create something you can use in your class, with your students. The document must be created with Adobe Spark Video

  • Steps for completing this assignment
    • Login to account previously created (last week)
    • Watch the videos in the Resource Section 
    • Decide on a project you would like to create
    • Learn while creating your exemplar.
    • Download completed video to hand in

Weekly Meeting: Tuesday at 3:30 pm – link is in the banner. If you cannot attend the meeting, you will need to contact me via email. All meetings will be recorded if you would like to refer back to what is covered.

Discussion: You now have some experience using two different creation tools, Adobe Spark Post and Canva. How could using these tools help increase student engagement in your class?

  • Respond to the prompt listed above on the discussion board linked in this section – Must be done by Thursday at 11:59 pm
    • Look for your page on the document to enter your reflection.
  • Make meaningful comments on at least two other posts by 11:59 pm on Sunday.

Week 4, Detailed Outline June 28, 2021 – July 4, 2021 :

Welcome to Week 4 – Designing with Adobe Spark Page

Introduction: Adobe Spark Page is another part of the Adobe Spark Suite. This tool allows you to create amazing webpages quickly and easily. These can be used for projects such as journals, portfolios or to teach about a particular topic.

In addition, this week you will be creating or revising a lesson plan that you can use with your students to integrate at least one of the tools you have learned.

Learning Goals for the Course.

Learners will demonstrate their knowledge of tools for harnessing student creativity by creating lessons and exemplars for their students using each program.

Learning Goals for the week. 

  1. Learners will identify and master the skills necessary to use each tool. 
  1. Learners will design and create an assignment exemplar using each tool.
  1. Learners will create or revise a lesson plan to give students the opportunity to use creativity to demonstrate their learning.

Assignment: This week take a lesson you are familiar with and change the work product that students turn in to an Adobe Spark Page. The goal is for you to create something you can use in your class, with your students. The document must be created with Adobe Spark Page.  

In addition you will be creating or revising a lesson plan to change the work product to use one of these (or all of them) tools

  • Steps for completing this assignment
    • Login to account previously created (last week)
    • Watch the videos in the Resource Section 
    • Decide on a project you would like to create
    • Learn while creating your exemplar.
    • Share the website link as a means of turning in the assignment
    • Create/revise lesson plan and turn it in.

Discussion: This week you will be creating/revising a lesson plan that you can use with your students. Use this discussion post to brainstorm ideas on how you can use these tools to get students creating.

Week 5, Detailed Outline July 5, 2021 – July 11, 2021 :

Welcome to Week 5 – Collaborating and Creating

You have now learned to use 4 different tools for creativity. Another way to increase student engagement is allowing them to collaborate. This week you will experience the power of collaboration when working on a creative project. You will be working with a group of no more than 3 people to create an exemplar and lesson plan. You get to choose the group so…you can work with the teachers who are in your PLC or you can mix it up and work with anyone you want.

In addition, this week you will be collaborating on creating or revising a lesson plan that you can use with your students to integrate at least one of the tools you have learned.

Learning Goals for the Course.

Learners will demonstrate their knowledge of tools for harnessing student creativity by creating lessons and exemplars for their students using each program.

  1. Learners will identify and master the skills necessary to use each tool. 
  1. Learners will design and create an assignment exemplar using each tool.
  1. Learners will create or revise a lesson plan to give students the opportunity to use creativity to demonstrate their learning.
  1. Learners will collaborate to create a lesson plan and exemplar(s) to give students the opportunity to use creativity to demonstrate learning.
  1. Learners will share completed lessons and exemplars with other learners. Class members will evaluate and provide constructive feedback.

Assignment: This week you will be working collaboratively on creating exemplars for your students. You must work with other people on this assignment so that you can experience the power of working collaboratively while creating. You will be working with a group of no more than 3 people to create an exemplar and lesson plan. You get to choose the group so…you can work with the teachers who are in your PLC or you can mix it up and work with anyone you want. 

The assignment is to choose a tool you have learned (or if you are ambitious, choose all 4) and create a lesson plan and exemplar(s) that you can use with your students. 

  • Steps for completing this assignment
    • Decide who you will be working with and send me the names via email
    • Check out the video resources to learn how to collaborate in each tool
    • Decide on a project you would like to create
    • Collaborate while creating your lesson plan and exemplar(s)
    • Turn the exemplar and lesson plan (file format depends on file type)

Discussion: You have now learned to use 4 different tools for creating and you have created or revised a lesson plan. Now is the time to share with your classmates. This week you will select your favorite exemplar and explain how you can use that tool with your students.
