Coding Camp Lesson Plan
Our coding camp was 4 days and 4 hours each day. I worked with the middle school and elementary groups at the coding camp. Students were engaged in the online and offline activities. I helped facilitate the elementary students as they learned to use the insta alpha and layering on keynote. I will never forget a student finished his insta alpha project (he had placed himself outside a gaming store) and he told me he could not wait to show his brother, who was in the middle school group, what he had learned.
I was amazed at how much progress we made in the app design challenge in such a short time with mixed age groups (we had high school, middle school and elementary school students working together on each of the apps). Students came together and designed apps and presented them to the community.
The only complaint students had is that they didn’t want the camp to end. Our hope next year is that we are able to offer full day camps. Both students and facilitators both had a great time and we look forward to year 2.
