Tech Literacy

I completed two different tech literacy surveys. The surveys assessed technology literacy in different ways. The first survey I completed was the Digital Literacy Survey. This survey asked how confident you felt in your ability to perform certain tasks and then asked you to perform those tasks. The second survey I completed was The Digital Competency Wheel. This survey asked how comfortable you were in with 16 digital competencies.

Digital Literacy Survey Results

As you can see above, I was confident I would do well on the digital skills that were being tested, my results were even better than expected. The results of this survey confirmed my ability on the tested skills. These are skills that I teach to my staff and use professionally and personally every day.

The Digital Competency Wheel

The Digital Competency Wheel Results

The questions of the Digital Competency Wheel were a different from the first survey I took. You were asked about your knowledge and was much more subjective. The results above show my areas of strength and weakness in regards to the 16 different competencies. As the results show, I feel more competent with technology I use on a daily basis and I see areas of needed growth in using technology to automate tasks and production.

As evidenced in the first survey, my area of greatest strength is the ability to explain how to use programs and technology, which is what I spend the majority of may day doing. The Digital Competency Wheel shows me the areas I need to improve. My lowest competency was communication, and though I use technology to communicate professionally every day the results show a need for growth in using social media as a means of collaborating and growing my PLC. While I am checking my social media, I need to make a conscience effort to participate. This will require me to step out of my comfort zone, which goest along with my motto, Never Stop Learning.
